Federal Government has inaugurated body cameras, operation monitoring and control platform to improve the Operations of the Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC across the country.

The innovation is to improve transparency and accountability for effective traffic management.

 Inaugurating the equipment in  Abuja, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mr Boss Mustapha said the present administration was committed to the provision of infrastructure for Transportation.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary General Services office Dr Nnamidi Mbaeri, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation maintained that the development would help in strengthen better road safety in the country.

Corps Marshal of FRSC Dr Boboye Oyeyemi said the equipment was designed to enhance the operations of the FRSC.

He stressed that the platform would embrace the ethical imperative in the sense that patrol process and eliminate misconducts both on the part of the Operatives and the motorists.

The FRSC boss said the corps recorded highest assault cases of personnel in 2019 adding and noted that deployment of the equipment would be in phases as the corps targets three years for all the patrol teams to be using the body cameras nationwide. 

In a message Minister, of the Federal Capital Territory,  Mallam  Muhammad Bello said that the deployment of technology for traffic law enforcement had become inevitable.

The minister who was also represented by the Permanent Secretary, FCT, Mr Olusade Adesola said that the application of body cameras had been used to the advantage of law enforcement agencies in other climes.

Mallam Bello maintained that the FCT administration would continue to sustain her collaborative activities with the FRSC to build a world class transportation infrastructure befitting the capital city.

Representatives from sister agencies such as the Nigeria Police, DSS, NSA among others pledged their continuous support and synergy with the FRSC.
