Train operations on the Abuja Kaduna rail corridor will resume Saturday, the 23rd of October.

The Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi stated this when he assessed the rail tracks allegedly vandalized by bandits at the Dutse end of the track.

Mr Amaechi said engineers had fixed the bad portion of the tracks destroyed by explosives.

The transportation minister noted that a digital security system would be installed to monitor the impact of any activity on the rail tracks.

He added that he would meet with the Department of State Security Services and Chief of Army Staff to apprehend the attackers.

Managing Director, Nigeria Railway Corporation, Mr Fidet Okhiria affirmed that train operations would resume with 4 trips from Monday to Saturday and 8 trips on Sundays.

The Corporation hoped to run up to 10 trips per day.
