Kano State Government has reaffirmed it’s commitment to the welfare of hisbah personnel through payment of befitting allowances to boost their morale.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje stated this while inaugurating 5,700 hisbah marshalls to commemorate the 4th hisbah day.

According to the Governor, Kano state government was committed to the provision of equipments, infrastructures and befitting uniforms to hisbah personnel according to global standards.

Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said his administration would increase the allowances of the board’s personnel as well as promote deserving officers to enable them discharge their duties effectively.

He pointed out that the state government would not relent in it’s efforts of eradicating all forms of vices and incalcating moral values to it’s citizens through the board.

The Governor charged the new hisbah marshalls to work tirelessly according to the teachings of Islam, assuring them of provision of adequate security, quality healthcare, free and compulsory education and eradicating drug abuse.

Earlier in his remarks the Commander General of the Kano state hisbah board Sheikh Dr. Harun Muhammad Sani Ibn Sina explained that the state house of assembly passed a law for the establishment of hisbah board in the year 2003.

He said the board had recorded tremendous achievements since inception which includes reuniting 22,113 underage beggers with their parents, destruction of over 33 trailers of beer and intoxicants.

The commander general said the board also engaged in enterprenuership training under the five zonal commanders in the five emirate councils of Kano,Bichi,Rano,Gaya and karaye.

Dr. Ibn Sina urged the state government to employ more hisbah personnel due to the large population of the state.

In their separate remarks, Associate Professor Sheikh Dr. Umar Sani Fagge who is also the pioneer commander general of the agency and Sheikh Abdulwahab Abdalla commended the hisbah board and called on the government to intensify efforts towards upgrading the agency and provision of more security and insurance for personnel especially those who lost their lives while serving their state.

The 4th hisbah day was attended by Hisbah commanders and Ulamas from Niger, Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa, Zamfara, Bauchi Kebbi and top government functionaries from within and outside the state
