Director General of National Teachers’ Institute NTI Kaduna, Professor Musa Garba Maitafsir, has warned workers against any act of excesses or misconduct capable of tarnishing the reputation of the Institute at its Study Centres nationwide.
The Director General issued the warning at a Two-day Review meeting on the training of Eighteen Thousand Three Hundred and Sixty Seven unqualified teachers from Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.
Professor Musa Garba Maitafsir charged Centre Managers of the Institute to be dedicated in the discharge of their responsibilities and ensure effective service delivery.
The Director General explained that the meeting was organized to sensitise centre managers on the operations of the Institute’s through distance learning technique, to enhanced quality and ensure efficient service delivery.
“As we gather here once again, to review the progress of the training programme and deliberate on ways forward, the Institute is still soliciting for the cooperation of the entire stakeholders to ensure that we produce quality and committed teachers for these three states at the end of the lifecycle of this programme,’’
Prof. Maitafsir added that the NTI in collaboration with Common Wealth of Learning was also training teachers of Sokoto and Kebbi States on techniques of learning, stressing that the Institute is in final discussions with World Bank to train another one thousand teachers in some selected states.
The NTI Director General commended the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu and the leadership of UNICEF Nigeria, for giving the Institute the unique opportunity and assistance to exercise its mandate.
In separate goodwill messages, representative of the Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Bode Ayanwole and that of Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria Mr. Lawrence Ugo-Ali, appreciated the NTI for enhancing teachers capabilities.
