Corporate and philanthropist organizations have been advised to assist the Internally Displaced Persons in Niger state to ameliorate their hardship.

Niger state Governor Alh Abubakar Sani Bello gave the advice while flagging off the distribution of food items in Minna to some IDP’S in four Local Government Areas by member of the House of Representatives representing Chanchaga constituency Umar Mohd Bago.

Represented by Secretary to the Niger state Government Ahmed Ibrahim Matane the Governor maintained that this had became necessary because government alone cannot do it.

According to him Niger state government is ready to receive such assistance from wealthy individual and groups and assured of judicious utilisation of the items.

He said the gesture by the law maker was part of efforts at providing soccour and relief to enable them celebrate the sixty first Independent Anniversary for Nigeria with ease.

The Secretary to the Niger state Government thanked the law maker for handing over the food items worth millions of naira to Niger state government for onward distribution to the Internally Displaced Persons in four Local Government areas of Munya Shiroro Bosso and Rafi.

In his remarks Director General Niger state Emergency Management Agency Ibrahim Ahmed Inga commended Umar Mohd Bago for the gesture and advised others to emulate.

Chief Of Staff to Umar Bago Alh Abdul Akim Oshoniga said the gesture is to celebrate the Independent Anniversary of Nigeria with the IDP’S.

Items to be distributed include eight thousand bags of rice maize and millet as well as two thousand cartons of Indomie among others.
