National Center for the Control of Small Arms and light weapons is seeking collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, to further curb the raising illegal movement of small arms and light weapons as well as control the web of insecurity bedeviling the country in recent time.

The National Coordinator of the center Retired Major-General Abba Mohammed Dikko stated this when he led with other top management of the center who were at the national headquarters of the NDLEA to seek an effective area of collaboration to address insecurity bedeviling the nation.

General Dikko said the center was charged with the responsibility of controlling the movement of illegal small arms and light weapons and would work in closer partnership with the NDLEA who spread across entry points into the country through the national borders and inter-states borders.

He noted that the move would go a long way in addressing the raising web of communal clashes and conflicts across the country.

The chairman and Chief Executive of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA Retired Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Marwa promised that the NDLEA would work closely with the center to stop the illegal movement of small arms and light weapons.

General Marwa said the NDLEA had commands and units across border towns, communities,’ states, and Local Government Areas of the Federation noting that the visit was timely and desirable considering the waves of crimes and criminality being perpetrated by bandits and insurgents largely influenced by the drug usage and other substances to carry out their evil against innocent citizens.
