Federal Government has recalled its Ambassador to Indonesia, Muhammed Buba Ahmed for questioning the circumstances leading to the assault of a diplomat by men of the Indonesian Immigration Service in Jakarta.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama made this known in Abuja during a press conference.

He said the action of the Indonesian Immigration officials contravenes International Law as well as the Vienna Conventions governing Diplomatic and Consular Relations between States.

He explained that the Ambassador’s recall was a routine process to shade more light on the immediate and remote course for the brutal attack on the Nigerian official.

The Minister also said the Federal Government would review it relationship with Indonesia.

He noted that the Nigerian Government had sent an official protest to the Government of Indonesia on the August 7 incident despite an apology from the host government.
