National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has sealed 12 Companies in Kano State for Violating Environmental laws.

The Director General, Professor Aliyu Jauro stated this while briefing Journalist after the enforcement tour conducted by officials of the Agency in Kano.

Represented by Assistant Director, Musa Shehu Usman said NESREA was saddled with the responsibility of enforcing all Environmental laws, guidelines policy, standards and regulations, hence would not relent in ensuring that the stated Goals were being achieved.

According to him, the Agency has been reaching out to the regulated Community through its compliance, monitoring and enforcement Activities aim at encouraging Environmental users to comply.

“It is worrisome to note that despite repeated Sensitization, some of the facilities and industries have refused to comply with the provision of Environmental Guidelines and Regulations”

‘’He maintain that the Agency has embarked on a Nationwide Enforcement Exercise to bring an end to the Gross Negligence and Non adherence to set Standard by those whose Activities pose threat to the Environment’’ Professor Aliyu Jauro stated,

He said so far 12 facilities have been sealed, adding that investigation was ongoing and soon the violators would be charged to Court.

The Director General, enjoined Nigerians to serve as Environmental watchdogs by Reporting facilities that carried out activities which were detrimental to the Environment.
