There is cholera outbreak in 41 local Government Areas in Kano, a Radio Nigeria investigation has revealed.

A bacterial disease causing severe diarrhoea and dehydration, usually spread in water.

Cholera is fatal if not treated right away.

Mohammad Ashiru and Inuwa Abdullahi from Kiru local Government are among survivors of the disease and they appealed to government to expedite action in curtailing its spread.

Dr Ashiru Rajab, a Director, public health ministry Kano state, said the outbreak of started 3 months ago with 5221 cases so far recorded.

Currently, there are 191 active cases with 169 deaths, he said.

Dr Ashiru Rajab said the State was sensitising rural communities on environmental and personal hygiene.
