The Kano State House of Assembly has called on the state government to provide electric poles and cables from Jalabi to Waila Kofar arewa in Bunkure local government area.

The call was made during plenary presided over by the speaker Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari.

While presenting the motion, the member representing Bunkure local government area Alhaji Muhammad Uba Gurjiya argued that the provision of electricity in the area will boost its economy and security.

He pointed out that the electrification work started in the year 2003 and has not been completed thereby causing setbacks to members of the community.

In another development, the Kano state house of assembly also received a petition from Parents Teachers Association of Sani Mai Nagge community in Gwale local government area concerning Izazudeen Islamiyya which is a community school established in 1982.

The petition read by member representing Gwale local government area Alhaji Yusuf Babangida Sulaiman, explained that the land was given to the community by Alhaji Aminu Dantata wherein the community appointed a reknown scholar Malam Ibrahim Isah Yakasai to serve as the proprietor while a principal was posted from the state ministry of education.

According to the petition, after the demise of the proprietor who served for 19 years the family of the deceased sold the school to an individual despite the fact that it was a community school.

The petition called on the house of assembly to do everything within its power in rescuing the school as the private corporation will soon convert the building to a residential area.

The house Committee on Petitions was asked to investigate and report to the house within four weeks while sitting was adjourned to Monday 26th July, 2021.
