Wealthy individual have been advised to give out zakkat to the needy in the society.

Executive Director of a Non Governmental Organization Zakkat and Sadaqat Foundation, Prince Sulaiman Olagunju gave the advice while distributing zakkat and sadaqat at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.

Prince Olagunju explained that zakkat is one of the five pillars of Islam that wealthy people are obligated to fulfill.

He noted that the foundation has given out zakkat and sadaqat to about fifty less privilege students at the University in four years.

Prince Sulaiman Olagunju added that about eight less privilege orphans received zakkat in collaboration with Islamic Trust of Nigerian ITN also in Zaria and four at the Nigerian College of Aviation .

In an address, Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University Professor Kabir Bala assured of the Institution’s commitment to partner with any organization engaged with improving institution the living conditions of the less privilege.

In her remark, Dr Sa’adatu Mohammed Makarfi from Counseling and Human Development Center advised the benefiting students to face their studies to become useful to the society.
