Federal Government is fully Committed towards implementing the Nigeria Correctional Service Act 2019 with a view to facilitating the realization of its objectives in the country.

The Minister of Interior, Mr. Agbeni Rauf Aregbesola stated this in Kaduna during the passing Out Parade of the Assistant Superintendent of Correction, ASC Basic Course, at the Correctional Service Staff College.

Represented by the Director Join Services Mr. Peter egbodo, the Interior Minister expressed the Federal Government’s determination under the leadership toward implementing policies and programmes that would improve the well-being of citizenry including those behind the bars.

According to him, the Federal Government will always Accord due attention to the Service, as evident by the massive transformation that is ongoing across the country including the service for optimal Productivity.

Mr Rauf Aregbesola Charged the Cadets, describing them as change agents to remain resolute toward ensuring Reformation, Rehabilitation and successful Re-integration of deviants back to the society.

The Minister explained that the basic course was designed to expose the officers to the rudiments of the management and general administration with special emphasis to Custodian and Non Custodian components of the Nigeria Correctional Service.

Rauf Aregbesola assured the Correctional Cadets Officers that the Ministry of Interior in Conjunction with Immigration and Federal Fire Service would always collaborate with the Controller General of Corrections and his team to ensure appropriate measures were put in place for the smooth administration of the Service.

He further stated that the Collaboration would also promote and ensure a good welfare package for Officers and the inmates in the Nation’s Custodian Centres.

He applauded the Commandant of the College ACGC Benson Abolade Victor, the directing staff and the entire team of the College for their efforts at ensuring that the institution continues to fulfill its mandate of training and re-training of Correctional Officers particularly in the line of emerging National and Global Security Challenges.
