Sokoto state Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has directed the state Pilgrims Welfare Agency to refund deposits made by intending pilgrims in the state.

In a statement signed by the Director-General of the agency, Alh.Shehu Muhammad says the directive followed the cancellation of this year’s Hajj pilgrimage by the Saudi Arabian authorities.

The statement seeks the understanding of the intending pilgrims that it is by Allah’s design, Nigeria among other Muslim nations will not be able to make the spiritual journey to the holy land.

It further says that the agency together with the National Hajj Commission would soon come up with modalities for the payments of the deposits.

Its added that the intending pilgrims who wish to roll over their deposits with the agency for next years Hajj can do so.
