Kebbi State Government, has assured parents of the kidnapped students of the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri and staff that, efforts were being intensified by the State Government to ensure their safe rescue.

The State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, gave the assurance when he visited the school to commiserate with the staff and students on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari, as well as the people and Government of Kebbi State.

Governor Atiku Bagudu, said government would do everything possible to bring back the children and the staff back safely.

He said, all hands are on the deck to ensure the kidnapped victims are rescued alive.

The abduction was unfortunate and a tragic incident where bandits confronted the policemen who were providing security to the school and overpowered them and made away with some students and Teachers”.

According to him, about two weeks ago, there was the news of bandits movement around the area and the state consulted with the Federal authorities and was told that the school has about two weeks to finish its terminal examinations.

He said, it was agreed that if security could be stationed in the school, it would be better to allow the children finish their examinations before going home.

The Governor commended the efforts of security agents in trying to repel the attack at the school and the state Commissioner of Police who deployed no fewer than twenty two of the personnel from the
Special Anti Terrorism Taskforce to the school.

The Principal of the College, Alhaji Yusuf described the incident as unfortunate and expressed hope that, the abductees would be rescued alive.
