Kano state Government has reiterated it’s dedication towards uplifting the standard of education, health and social well being of children.

The state Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje stated this during the occasion to mark the International children’s day, held at Government house Kano.

He explained that the kano state government will continue to accord the international children’s day great importance and shall continue to come up with developmental projects to improve the lives of children.

“Today is your day, it is our responsibility to make you happy through sustainable children’s development. Am happy to be among you today as the occasion has brought together children, people with special needs and orphans”

Dr. Ganduje maintained that the covid 19 pandemic had led to the death of many people in kano as such it was the responsibility of government to take care of children who lost their parents.

In her remarks the wife of the Kano state governor, Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje described the theme of the 2021 international children’s day as timely due to the current situation.

She said the International children’s day was set aside by the united nations general assembly to celebrate and to alleviate all challenges being faced by them.

“The Kano state government had provided free and compulsory education, the more a child is educated the more he or she would contribute to the development of the society”

Earlier,the kano state commissioner for women affairs and social development, Dr Zahra’u Muhammad Umar described the International children’s day as an avenue to reflect on social and educational well being of the Nigerian child.

She noted that the pandemic had affected children world wide and if not tackled on time would have lasting effects on the lives of children.

‘Am delighted to welcome you to this memorable event, which is a day to show love and commitment to our dear children”

The International children’s day 2021 themed ” The Effect of Covid-19 on the Total well-being of the Nigerian child: The way forward” was celebrated in Kano with drama, cultural dances, recreational activities among others.
