A 16 year old girl, Aisha Muhammad has drowned in a well at Sharada Ja’en behind Masallacin Juma’a Kano municipal local government area.

Public Relations officer of the state fire service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi confirmed the incident to our Radio Nigeria correspondent in kano

He maintained that a rescue team was immediately mobilized and the body was extracted from the well and conveyed to the Murtala Muhammad specialist hospital where she was confirmed dead.

In the same vain, the public relations officer of the Kano state fire service says a 17 year old Yusuf Muhammad also lost his life during local swimming at Yan Danko Galinja Dam Kumbotso local government area.

He pointed out that a police officer Yusuf Saleh alerted the agency about the disappearance of a young man while swimming in a pond.

Saminu Yusuf noted that the rescue team evacuated the body unconscious and later confirmed dead by health officials.

He decried over rising cases of drowning and urged parents and guardians to be extra vigilant and caution young men and children aginst local swimming .
