About one thousand personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC would be deployed to ensure a hitch free eid prayers across Borno state.

Borno state Commandant of the Corps Abdullahi Ibrahim made this known while briefing newsmen in Maiduguri on the level of preparation for peaceful sallah celebration.

According to him, officers and men of the command including undercover operatives will be fully deployed to ten eid grounds in Maiduguri and environs in addition to other prayer grounds in all the accessible local government areas.

The Commandant also said Quick and Rapid Response Team have been deployed on major highways particularly Maiduguri-Damaturu road to ensure safety of commuters travelling in and out of the state.

He appealed to people of the state to cooperate with security agencies for a hitch free celebration and also enjoined worshippers to strictly adhere to the covid-19 protocols within and outside the prayer grounds.

“We will like to encourage worshippers to pray very close to their vicinity instead of going to distant places, therefore they should try to restrict their movement”

Similarly, the Borno state police command has announced the restriction of vehicular movement on sallah day for residents of Maiduguri Metropolitan and Jere Local Government Area.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer Superintendent Edet Okon says the restriction will affect motor cycles, tricycles, bicycles, wheelbarrows and animal transport from morning to 12 noon.
