No fewer than 12 people lost their lives and properties worth over 17.6 million naira were destroyed during fire disasters in Kano in the month of April, 2021.

Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi stated this while briefing newsmen in Kano.

Mallam Sanimu Abdullahi explained that the agency had saved 94 people and properties worth over four hundred and twenty three million naira within the period under review.

He disclosed that during the month of April, the service had recieved 94 fire calls, 73 rescue and a total of 14 false alarms.

Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi attributed the rising cases of fire disasters to electric fault, use of substandard products and careless handling of cooking gas.

He called on residents to abide by traffic rules, handle fire with care to avoid outbreaks, avoid use of substandard products and desist from local swimming.

The public relations officer reaffirmed the commitment of Kano fire service in protecting lives and property of the general populace.
