Niger state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT has given the state government a four day ultimatum to meet its demand or direct its members at both primary and secondary schools to sit at home.

This is the outcome of state wing Executive Council meeting of the union which was jointly signed by it’s Chairman and and Principal Assistant Secretary General Comrade Ibrahim Umar and Comrade Labaran Garba issued to Newsmen in Minna.

It however warned that if Niger state government failed to implement it’s demand by Tuesday midnight it would be left with no option than to direct its members to sit at home.

Some of its demand include implementation of thirty thousand naira minimum wage to primary school teachers on grade level seven and above payment of outstanding four months salary to newly recruited primary school teachers and refund of thirty percent salary cut of secondary school teachers for June last year.

Others according to the statement is the implementation of full Teachers Salary Structure TSS of twenty seven point five percent and twelve point five percent for professional and non professional teachers among others.
