The Federal Execute Council has approved the draft policy on national poverty reduction with growth strategy.

The Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity Femi Adesina disclosed this to State House Correspondents after the weekly Federal Executive Council Meeting.

The Presidential Economic Adivisory Council had some weeks back submitted the national poverty reduction growth strategy plan to the federal executive council.

The issue was widely debated and later approved by the council.

Mr. Femi Adesina explained that the council was aware of the worsening poverty situation in the country and the federal government is working hard to redress the situation.

According to him, the council also directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Chairman Presidential Economic Adivisory Council on the need to come up with a sustainable poverty reduction strategy.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development presented a memo on behalf of the National Emergency Management Agency seeking approval of Council for the revised estimated cost and augmentation on contract for the procurement of poultry for Borno, Plateau, Yobe and Zamfara States that were affected by conflict in 2019.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruq said the contract was earlier approved but due to the increase in prices of commodities caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the council had to augment the initial cost of the contract

The Minister of State for Petroleum Timifre Silver revealed that the council approved two memos from his ministry.

The first was for the facility maintenance of seventeen storey building belonging to Nigerian Content Development Board in Yenegoa at the cost of over two billion naira while the second was for the operation and maintenance of ten megawatts power plant also in Yenegoa at the cost of over seven hundred million naira
