Nigerian States Budget Transparency Survey has rated Jigawa, first interms of budget transparency and accountability which may earn the state a world bank cash prize of about 13 to 16 million United States dollars.

Speaking after receiving the report, Governor Badaru Abubakar expressed happiness on the outcome of the survey conducted by Civil Resource Development and Documentation Centre funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, formerly known as DFID/UKaid.

Alhaji Badaru Abubakar explained that the outcome was a manifestation of government commitment towards promoting democracy and transparency in the state.

According to him, Democracy is not only a right to vote but it extended to the citizens right of participation in governance and all policy around.

“In Jigawa we are operating all inclusive government, under which all citizens have equally opportunity  to participate in budget preparation, implementation and monitoring” Governor Badaru added.

He noted that this was the second time Jigawa state emerged top in budget transparency, “in 2018 we emerged First with 83 % and today the result of 2020 survey shows we have the highest mark of 90% we are happy with the progress”.

Alhaji Badaru attributed the success to the qualified team, the state had put in place including political leaders, civil servant, civil societies and professionals.

The Governor promised to continue utilising opportunity or intervention received from its partners for human capital development towards making Jigawa people  more productive.
