Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment in implementing the 2013 National Water Resources Master Plan.

Minister of Water Resources, Engineer Suleiman Adamu stated this in Kano at a sensitization workshop on national water resources masterplan for stakeholders.

The Minister who was represented by the Director Water Resources,Planning and Technical Support of the Ministry, Mrs Alice Ojowu said the water resources master plan was developed by the ministry in collaboration with Japan International Cooperative Agency in 1995.

He said the stakeholders meeting was a sensitization forum for the north west Geo political zone geared towards enlightening the participants with the contents of the master plan to enable them develop activities and ensure the availability of water to the public.

Engineer Suleiman Adamu noted that the overall development of the water sector was being guided by the National Water Resources Master Plan, saying it’s implementation was expected to be in partnership with States, Local Governments as well as the Private sector.

In a message, Kano State Commissioner for Water Resources, Sadiq Aminu applauded the efforts of the Federal Government in streamlining current policies to build a viable system geared towards improving water services to the region.

He listed some of the projects Kano state had benefitted from Federal Government to include the construction of new solar boreholes at some local government areas, rehabilitation of some existing ones and upgrading of motorize boreholes among others.

The workshop had participants from Kano,Jigawa ,kaduna,and Katsina states.
