Traditional rulers have been described as one of the key players in promoting peace and stability in Nigeria

Kano state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje made the assertion, while declaring open the 12th general assembly of the National council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) in kano.

Governor Ganduje explained that the 12th general assembly was timely as there was urgent need for relevant stakeholders to work towards ending the menace of insecurity and drug abuse among others

He pointed out that kano state government had put in place modalities to ensure protection of lives and property by providing tracking devices and setting up joint task force on security.

The Governor explained that the state had created four new Emirate councils to uphold cultural heritage and ensure development in all spheres of life

Earlier, the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar II pointed out that traditional and religious leaders in the country would continue to promote unity and stability of Nigeria

Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar urged the general public to abide by covid 19 protocols to curtail the spread of the disease.

The 12th general assembly of the National council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria with the theme” Imperative of Unity, peace and development: The role of Traditional Rulers”, was attended by first class traditional rulers from the 36 states including the FCT, government officials, journalists and the general public.
