The students set fire on the security room at the main gate of the polytechnic

Students of Nasarawa State Polytechnic Lafia also called Isa Musthapha Agwai Polytechnic have staged a violent protest over the alleged Management’s directive to close the school registration portal and increment of school fees.

The rampaging students blocked Lafia-Jos Road where the school is located for several hours until the arrival of security where they were dispersed.

The students vandalised the administrative block, ICT Centre, blew up water tanks and also set ablaze the school security room at the main gate of the institution among other facilities.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, National President, Nasarawa State Students Association, Comrade Alkamis Ladan explained that the students were to commence examination on Monday 15 March 2021 while students who were yet to pay their registration fees were asked to pay additional N10, 000 before the portal would be reopened, an action that did not go down well with the students.

In a swift reaction through telephone, Rector of the polytechnic Dr.Justina Kotso said she had summoned an emergency Management meeting for further action.
