Federal Government is to establish a database of forfeited assets.

The Solicitor-General Dayo Apata, SAN, stated this during a visit to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission headquarters in Abuja, according to a statement by the agency spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren.

It was titled, ‘Sale of Assets: Committee commends EFCC, assures FG of value for forfeited assets’.

The Statement explained that the database would be done by the Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Disposal of Federal Government Forfeited Assets.

Dayo Apata, who is the committee chairman, assured that it would ensure Federal Government gets value for all the forfeited assets soon to be disposed.

The statement quoted Apata as stating that the committee which was inaugurated on November 9, 2020 by the Attorney- General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, is introducing uniform process of assets disposal, and avoiding wastages, so Federal Government can have full benefit of what has been forfeited

It read, “He (Apata) pointed out that the committee would create a central database of assets that had been forfeited to the Federal Government.”

The statement further commended the synergy among the relevant agencies represented on the committee.

“For the first time in Nigeria, all agencies are sitting together and discussing on the same table on issues related to assets management and disposal,”

Responding, Acting EFCC chairman, Mohammed Abba reiterated the resolve of the agency to assist the committee in the execution of its mandate.
