Federal Government has expressed commitment towards repositioning the mines and Steel sector to attain its pride of place as the bedrock of Industrialization.

Permanent Secretary, federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade made this known during a one day working visit to the National Metallurgical Center, Jos.

Dr Akinlade stressed that with the renewed zeal and synergized commitment to the mineral and metal sector, the economy would create required jobs for teeming population and diversity the economy for National prosperity.

She said the National metallurgical center had the capacity to actively support the Nations economy.

The Permanent Secretary noted that the improvement of the internally generated revenue in the sector would go a long way towards strengthening the revenue base of the Nation and assured that the leadership of the Ministry would work towards ensuring better working conditions and efficient operations of all personnel under it.

Dr Akinlade also applauded the contributions of the center, noting that all hands must be on deck towards sustaining the effort in order to rebuild the Nation by developing the ailing mineral and metal industry .

Also speaking , Director General of the National Metallurgical Center, Professor Linus Asuquo expressed commitment of the centre towards making significant inputs in the development of the mineral and metal sector of the Nations economy.

He noted that the center was facing many challenges, in the area of its research, development ,equipment and facilities.

Professor Asuquo further called for the training and retraining of its staff as well as improved funding to settle the centers numerous bills.
