The People’s Democratic Party PDP in Jigawa has finally conducted state congress election after prolong battle between two warring factions.
The elected new executives members are to run affairs of the party in the state for four years.
Those elected include, Alhaji Babandi Ibrahim Gumel as state chairman, Isah Bello Gwadayi Secretary, Sale Yahaya K.O asTreasurer and Abba Shehu Soja assistant secretary.
Others are Hajia Kandiya Birnin kudu- women leader and Kabiru Hussaini as youths leader.
In a post election speech, the new chairman Alhaji Babandi Gumel promised to reconcile with aggrieved members to move the party forward.
In a remark, the PDP leader and former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido urged the newly elected leaders to be fair and just for the successes of the party in the 2023 general election.
Also speaking,the chairman of the convention committee, Dr Umar Hardo from the national Secretariat of the PDP expressed satisfaction with peaceful conduct of the poll.
Hardo pledged to submit comprehensive report to the national secretariat in the FCT.
Radio Nigeria reports that Barrister Suleiman Umar administered the oath of office and allegiance on the new executive’s members.
It could be recalled that a high court sitting in Dutse presided by Justice Musa Ubale had rescinded its earlier order restricting the PDP leader who is the former governor of the state Alhaji Sule Lamido led faction from conducting the state and local government congress elections.
The judge in a fresh order, strucked out the case and ordered the faction of the defendendants to go ahead and conduct the PDP Congress in the state.
