The northwest zonal commander of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons Mr Desmond Garba says the agency has secured 14 convictions on human trafficking in the last quarter of year 2020

Mr Desmond Garba made the disclosure during an exclusive interview with radio Nigeria’s correspondent Khadijah Aliyu at his office in Kano.

He explained that 14 suspected cases of human trafficking were taken to court by NAPTIP

According to him, the human traffickers are found guilty and sentenced to their various offences

Mr Desmond Garba attributed the success achieved by the agency due to cordial relationship between NAPTIP, kano state government, security agencies and the public.

He described kano state as destination and transit point for human traffickers

The zonal commander reiterated NAPTIP’s commitment towards eradicating human trafficking, child labour and other related offences and called on the public to report any suspected character to relevant authorities
