The Commandant General Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp NSCDC, Abdullahi Muhammadu has expressed commitment of the service to the restoration of peace and security in the Northeast region.

Mr Abdullahi Muhammadu made the commitment during the ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony of the permanent headquarters of the Command in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

The Commandant General said the NSCDC would work in synergy with other security forces to rid the region of the menance of insurgency, terrorism and other sundry crimes.

He described the project as a morale booster and will go a long way in addressing office and accommodation challenges for officers and men of the command.

The Commandant General explained that he will continue to accord special attention to the welfare and promotion of personnel especially those in the theatres of war, adding that 422 personnel in Borno state command have been promoted from 2015 to date.

Abdullah Muhammadu commended the Governor Zulum for approving the land for the construction of the permanent structure.

Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum commended the exceptional effort of the civil defence in the restoration of civil authority in the state.

He called on the federal government to provide the Corp with state-of-the-art equipment to contain cases of criminal activities.

High point of the event was the foundation laying ceremony by Governor Babagana Zulum alongside the Commandant General and other dignitaries.
