Federal Government is to spend about ₦63 billion on rehabilitation of the Kano-Gwarzo-Dayi Road, linking Kano with Katsina and Zamfara States.

Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, who stated this while briefing State House correspondents in abuja after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, said the contract would be completed in 24 months.

At the meeting, the Ministry of Health also got approval, on behalf of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), to introduce electronic medical records and management.

Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Enahire said the initiative known as e-NHIS, would interconnect with State Health Insurance Schemes, Health Management Organisations (HMO), and functional hospitals.

Similarly, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy obtained approval to establish a Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre in Abuja.

The Minister, Dr Ali Pantami, said the initiative was in line with the Federal Government’s determination to promote self-reliance.

He explained that the plan was in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), under its Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Programme, which supports countries and institutions to produce entrepreneurs of their choice.

The Minister also said FEC had given his ministry approval to its policy of prioritising the provision of National Identity to the over 3 million Internally Displaced Persons across the country.
