Nigerian Air Force

Nigerian Airforce has re-iterated its loyalty and commitment to restoration of peace and stability to all parts of Nigeria.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar gave the assurance at the graduation ceremony of ab-initio student pilot course 46 at the 401 flying school, Kaduna.

Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar explained that at inception of this administration, the flying school had only three diamond 40 platforms for flying training, which he said was inadequate and unsuitable for aerobatics and other manoeuvres to conduct military flying training.

He maintained that as of now, the force had fifteen platforms with wide range of capabilities enabling quality training and had enabled the flying training school to train 145 student pilots to date with additional 24 instructor pilots and other 15 specialized pilots within the period under review.

According to him, addition of 114 fully trained pilots has led to a vibrant air power in counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency efforts in the North East as well as fight against armed banditry in the North West and North Central regions.

The Chief of Air Staff urged the graduands to maintain attitude of dogged determination to improve flying skills as they proceed to the next phase of military flying training.

Earlier, Commander of the 401 training school, Air Commodore Ahmad Idris said the school had upheld a long standing tradition of excellence in military aviation and transformation of cadets and officers to full fledged professional aviators.

The event had in attendance, Air Officer Commanding Air Training Command, AVM Musa Ibrahim Mukhtar, Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General Jamil Sarham and other senior military officers.

A total of twenty-nine students graduated after undergoing a twenty-month training.
