Federal Government has received a shipment of ventilators and other medical equipment from the United Nations Systems to fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

The resident coordinator for Nigeria, Mr. Edward Kallon, said in a statement that the shipment included fifty ventilators and other protective equipment.

Mr. Edward Kallon explained that the items were procured through the recently launched COVID NINETTEEN Basket Fund which included two million dollars mobilized within the UN system in Nigeria and a two hundred thousand dollars contribution from  the sources.

According to him, the supplies will boost government’s efforts to provide an efficient and effective healthcare response for those affected by the virus.

The resident coordinator assured that the next shipment of personal protective equipment would arrive in Nigeria later this month.
