Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria SMEDAN say lack of access to affordable and credible Business Development Services has been one of the major challenges militating against growth of MSME’s in Nigeria.

Director General of SMEDAN, Dr Dikko Umaru Radda made this known at the Maiden Edition of the National Business Development Services Providers (BDSP’S) Certification and Accreditation Training Programme in Kaduna

Dr Radda was of the view that the Certification and Accreditation Training would change the quality, content and delivery Methodology of Business Development Services across the Country.

The Director General stressed that implementation of the Certification and Accreditation framework was a step taken to build a critical mass of BDSP’S who would provide professional support to MSME’s.

He said a survey conducted in 2017 showed that Nigeria had forty one point five million MSME’s and was still growing, hence the need to properly harness the sector to help trigger an Entrepreneurial Revolution in Industrialization, Agriculture and Commerce.

SMEDAN’s Director, Enterprises Development and Promotion, Monday Ewans said henceforth, only Certified and Accredited BDSP’S would function in the MSME’s sub sector of the Economy.

He said with the new initiative, MSME’s in Nigeria would have quality to contribute effectively to issues relating to Poverty Alleviation, Wealth and Job creation, in line with the aspiration of the present Administration
