Department of Petroleum Resources DPR in Kwara state says it will employ technology  to reduce smuggling of petroleum product outside the designated location.

The Operation controller Ilorin field office, Yusuf Sule stated this while Fielding questions from newsmen in Ilorin.

According to him the Department will intensify surveillance to ensure deports and filling stations comply with the instructions of not supplying fuel to outlets within 20 kilometers radius to the border.

Yusuf  explained that a team had been constituted to ensure the real quantity of products supplied gets to the stations as approved.

He advised maketers to avoid illegal diversion of petroleum products from the original destination , adding that anyone cought would be punished accordance to the law.

In a remark, Acting chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Kwara state branch ,Mr Jaiyeola Adekola called on government to return to the old ways of loading product from NNPC to enable it reduce smuggling.
