NGOs Offer Free Medical Services To Kaduna Residents

Two Non Governmental Organisations- Movement for Islamic Culture and Awareness (MICA), and Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN), have commenced a four-day outreach to residents of Unguwan Mu’azu community.

The free medical services were also geared towards health promotion, prevention, education, clinical diagnosis, investigations and treatment.

Speaking at the event, Ameer of MICA, Dr Sulaiman Zibiri explained that the outreach, was aimed at cushioning the effects posed by the economy especially in the area of accessing quality medical services.

He maintained that MICA also focused on sensitising people towards handling threats posed by deadly viral diseases as well as to complement government efforts in preventing them.

Dr Zibiri urged communities to imbibe personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness as preventive measures against outbreak of diseases.

Also speaking, an official of IMAN, Mallam Lawal Atiku, said their role in the exercise was to provide man power in order to achieve success of the outreach.

The medical services offered by the NGOs included diagnosis and treatment for malaria, typhoid, hypatisis ‘B’ and HIV tests, dental, eyes, ears and throat check, and physiotherapy.
