Senate Affirms Support To Nigerian Covid19 Vaccine Manufacturers

Senate President, Ahmad Lawal says the National Assembly will support the funding of Nigerian vaccine manufacturers.

He gave this indication in Abuja, while speaking with newsmen after he and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila had a closed-door meeting with President Buhari, during which issues of serious national concern were discussed.

Dr. Ahmed Lawan said among the concerns discussed was the issue of supplementary budget to provide funding for the production of Covid-19 vaccines in Nigeria.

He however said the National Assembly would not support individuals or groups, whose works had not been scientifically certified.

The Senate President also emphasised that the nation’s armed forces needed modern weapons to enable them deal with terrorists and sundry criminals making living uncomfortable.

Also speaking, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila said the National Assembly was expected to pass the Petroleum IndustryBill (PIB) latest by June ending.

On security, Mr. Gbajabiamila said they had decided to think outside the box, employ consultants, besides setting up a special committee of 40 members of the House to search for solution to insecurity.
