Food Poison Kills 9 Family Members In Zamfara

Food poison has claimed lives of 9 out of 10 family members in Zamfara State.

In an interview with Radio Nigeria, Uncle of the deceased, Bashiru Muhammad Jangeme, who spoke to Radio Nigeria at Yariman Bakura Specialists Hospital Gusau, said, the elder sister of the deceased cook food with a powder meant for hair shampoo instead of Potassium that they normally used in a Hausa food “Tuwon Dawa” (Swallow) which consequently killed 9 out of the 10 family members who ate from the contaminated food.

He explained that, the elder sister A’isha, a divorcee cooked the food as their mother who suppose to cook it went out for a purpose.

Bashir said the only survivor, Abba, is presently in critical condition receiving medical attention at the specialist Hospital in Gusau.

When contacted, Public Relations officer of the Hospital, Mr. Auwal Usman Ruwan Dorowa who confirmed the received of the patients at the specialist Hospital said Doctors have confirmed that, the food they ate was responsible for their death.
