Emir of Kano Advocates Youth/Women Inclusion In Politics

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, says women inclusion in politics would add value to the political arena of the country.

Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero stated this while unveiling a campaign on youths and women inclusion in politics, “We-You Pro” campaign, initiated by Consortium Action Aid Nigeria and Centre for Communication and Social Impact(CCSI), held in Kano.

The Emir cautioned youths against political thuggery and misconduct.

The Emir who was represented by Fagacin Kano, Alh. Habibu Dankadai, said inclusion and involvement of youths and women in politics was vital.

He said both youths and women were key in politics because they constitute a large number of the electorate and play an important role.

Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero urged the two groups to come out enmass, to ensure they elect credible leaders.

In her opening remarks, the Country Director, Actionaid Nigeria, Mrs Ene Obi, said the organisation had committed to advocating for inclusion of women and youths in politics.

“We believe that poverty eradication can be achieved with priority in equal distribution of opportunities and rights.”

She pledged that actionaid would support youths and women wishing to run for elective positions in 2023 general elections.

The Country Director added that the organisation would embark on more youths empowerment campaigns to support them.

In his goodwill message at the function, the Kano State Chairman of Youths Progressive Party (YPP), Salisu Umar, pledged to support youths and women in 2023.

He noted that his party would promote the women and youths participation and inclusion agenda.

Also, the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists Kano Chapter, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim, pledged support for the campaign.

“On behalf of all working journalists in Kano, I wish to inform you of our total commitment to support the course of promoting youths and women inclusion.”
