Education Gulps N8bn Annually In Sokoto State – Official

Sokoto state government says it expends over eight billion naira annually on school feeding programme, students examination fees and other human development issues in the state.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state, Muha’d Bello says apart from the funds spent on feeding students in schools across the state, the state government also paid students examination fees for the National Examination Council NECO , West African Examination Council, National Board for Technical Education among others.

According to the statement, in addition to the expenditures on examination fees and feeding aimed at significant human developments, the administration, has been paying scholarship promptly .

It further explains that the state government is building a girl-child, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics academy in the state and the Sokoto state university teaching hospital, stressing that the projects are geared towards the development of education in the state.

The statement highlight that the state is equally working towards bringing back out-of-school children into the classrooms.
