Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway Will Be Completed Next Year

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing Alhaji Mahmuda Mamman has assured Nigerians that the ongoing Abuja – Kaduna – Kano Expressway project will be completed in the first quarter of next year.

He stated this while speaking with newsmen shortly after inspecting the ongoing project in Kaduna.

Alhaji Mamman attributed the slow face of the project to the insecurity, stressing that, now the situation had improved significantly, the contractor has promised to complete the whole project first quarter of 2024.

He emphasized that, the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing would stand on the timeline given by the contractor to ensure it completion.

“Before coming to Western bypass, we started this journey from Abuja – Kaduna – Kano Expressed way, the essence of the visit is familiarisation and monitoring, we are outside the office to come and see practical challenges because if we don’t go out we cannot see the problem”.

Alhaji Mamman explained that, the essence of the familiarisation visit was for them to see the challenges and find solutions to mitigate the problem.

Alhaji Mahmuda Mamman also expressed satisfaction with the quality of the road project, urged the contractor to deliver on the stipulated time.

The Permanent Secretary pointed out that, because of the terrible nature of Kaduna Western bypass, he and his team would mandate the contractor assigned to fully commence the work.

He further stated that, for the western bypass, the project has no any funding issue while for the Abuja – Kaduna – Kano expressed way it had challenges of funding.

“It is in the same vein we also go and look at the Kaduna Western bypass and we have seeing the situation of the road how it is.

“And by the time we go back to the office, we don’t need to tell you the strategy that we are going to adopt but we are going to do something different, so that at the end of the day we force the contractor to go back to side to deliver.

“Because he supposed to render services to Nigerians, as it is now, is very slow and that is why Nigerians are agitating and that’s actually what brought us from office to come see inorder to device solution, so that he can pass deliver the project”, he concluded.
