Finance Minister, Customs CG, Others Charge Stakeholders To Key Into IDEC

Federal government says promoting and sustaining transperancy in delivering services to public sector Domain is among it’s leading priorities.

The minister of budget and National planning Hajiya zainab shamsuna Ahmed stated this during a one day sensitization workshop on Digitalization of import duty exemption certificate (IDEC) held at custom training school Kano.

Represented by the Kano state commissioner for budget and planning Alhaji Shehu Na’allah Kura said the primary aim of waivers in every economy was to provide incentives that would stimulize industrialization and economic growth.

Hajiya zainab shamsuna Ahmed explained that the workshop was targeted at Acquainting stakeholders and beneficiaries of the incentives to comply with the rules and regulations.

She noted that the basis was to also derive economic growth and overall development.

“Approximately N341.94Billion worth of waivers was granted from August 2017 to August 2019. The scope of such request are expanding; hence the need to have in place modern technology to drive it’s administration.” She said.

In a remark, the comptroller Nigeria custom services colonel Hamid Ibrahim Ali rtd , represented by the commandant of custom training school Kano Mr Lawrence Banye said import Duty exemption certificate would not only block leakages ,but also promote trade efficiency, boost investors confidence, transparency and ease of doing businesses.

Hameed Ali added that the approved E- customs project signals was to usher new regime of total Automation.

The workshop was attended by the personnel of the Nigerian custom service, Members of Manufacturers association of Nigeria and other stakeholders.
