2023 Election : Shun Politics Of Ethnicity, Religion – CMMRC To Kaduna Residents

Members of the Community Mitigation Management Regional Council CMMRC in Kaduna, have urged residents of the state to refrain from politics of bitterness, ethnicity and religion for peace and development of Kaduna.

They made the call at a news briefing in Kaduna.

Reverend Kaleb who is one of the council member explained that, all political parties have adherents of Islamic and Christian beliefs contesting in various positions.

Reverend Ma’aji Kaleb who is also a member of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna state , pointed out that electioneering period should be devoid of enmity , but an opportunity for every eligible voters choose candidate of their choice.

“Time of election should never be seen as a time of do or die affair, rather it should be time for reaching out to convince people that are not in our camp to switch over”

“Election will come and go but we will still remained the same people, election will come and go while our relationship will still be there”

Reverend Ma’aji Kaleb urged religious leaders to refrain from making inciting statements that can instigate people toward negative behaviours.

He advised religion clerics to engage in preaching and teaching their followers virtues that can bring people together for the purpose of unity and development of communities.

“Please let see each other as human beings, we are one and we are each other keepers, we have responsibility toward each other and when ever you see anything that has a tendency of cheating you have the responsibility to speak out”

In his contribution, a member of the Community Mitigation Management Regional Council CMMRC Malam Ibrahim Isa Kufaina called on all religious and community leaders in the state to eschew bitterness and face the forthcoming governorship election with an open mind.

Malam Ibrahim Isa Kufaina who is also the Secretary, Jamaatul Nasrul Islam JNI in Kaduna appealed to political actors not to instigate any political crisis, saying that elections are not a do or die affair.

“We should remember what happened in 2011, we lost many lives and properties. Do we want to repeat that kind of thing?”

“If your candidate lost election please accept it, burning some body house or killing will not change that election result”

He also urged the youths not to allow politicians to use them for political thuggery and called on INEC and security agencies to be fair and sincere while discharging their duties.

The State Public Relations Officer, Community Mitigation Management Regional Council, Mr Silas Danladi Kure said it is pivotal for the council to draw the attention of the electorate particularly the youths and women to ensure peaceful election.

He thanked media organizations for their contribution toward ensuring peace in the society.
