FG Commence Training For 30 Sugarcane Farmers

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has commenced training for thirty sugarcane Farmer to boast sugar production in the country.

Speaking at the 2-day capacity building workshop for Small Holder Sugarcane farmers, The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development ,Dr.Muhammed Mahmood Abubakar said three persons each will benefit from the ten participating state.

Represented by the Assistant Chief Agric Officer from the ministry ,the minister said the ideas is to enable sugarcane Farmer have access to inputs to aid their production.

He said the federal government will support all farmers in the sector to attain their full potentials.

Dr Muhammed Abubakar noted that the programme will transform the country from sugar consuming nation to a supplier to other countries.

He urged the participants at the training to use the knowledge acquired to improve their economic status.

In her address the Managing Director Kwara state Agricultural Development Project(ADP) Dr.Khadijat Ahmed said the state government has concluded plans to resuscitate the sugar factory in the State.

She advised the participants to pay attention to the training to improve their skills in sugarcane production.

In his remark the Chairman Sugarcane Farmers Association of Nigeria ,Kwara state Chapter, Muhammed Ndako Shaaba called for the empowerment of out growers in sugarcane production to create more jobs.

Earlier in his address of welcome , Kwara state coordinator ,of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development ,Dr .Aliyu Isa Kabir urged the participants to take advantage of the available market and venture into large scale sugarcane production in the country.
