Customs Service Intercepts Cannabis Sativa Worth Over N20m

The Niger Kogi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has handed over three hundred and seventeen blocks of compressed cannabis sativa weighing two hundred and fifty three point six kilograms intercepted on Abuja Lokoja highway by it’s men with estimated street value of over twenty million naira.

Handing over the seized items to the NDLEA Commander in Minna Customs Area Controller Mr Busayo Kadejo said he has obtain necessary approval from Comptroller General of Customs Colonel Hameed Ibrahim Ali retired to do that.

Mr Busayo Kadejo explained that the action further demonstrated the synergy that exists between Nigeria Customs Service and NDLEA the security and law enforcement agencies.

He however lamented that if the packages had escaped they would have helped in the execution and sustenance of crimes such as banditry kidnapping thuggery and other social vices and commended his officers and men for doing a thorough job.

Mr Busayo Kadejo however reaffirmed the determination of Nigeria Customs Service in combating smugling activities in their area of responsibility and surpress them to the bearest minimal.

Recieving the seized item NDLEA Commander In Charge of Niger state Barrister Haruna Kwatishe said he has accepted the blocks from their custody and that it will be publically destroyed.

Barrister Haruna Kwatishe exppressed happiness that the seizure would no doubt reduce the circulation of drugs in the society which will go along way in reducing social vices for a healthy and prosperous Nigeria.

He warned those engaging in drugs trafficking to desist or face the full wrath of the law.

The suspects have abandoned the cannabis sativa and took to their heels.
