KNSG Distributes Free Maternal Drugs, Medical Equipment To Hospitals

Kano state government says it has spent over fifteen million naira, for the procurement of free maternal commodities in the month of January 2023.

The Director General, Kano State Hospitals Management Board Dr. Nasiru Alhassan Kabo made this known during the flag off of the distribution at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano.

Dr. Kabo, who was represented by the Director Medical Services of the Board, Dr. Sulaiman Hamza Mudi explained that, from January to December 2022, 15,577 babies were delivered, 1,799 Ceaserian Surgery performed free of charge at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.

“the gesture is part of the state’s effort’s to reduce the high rate of maternal mortality and morbidity”

He called on wealthy Individuals and development partners, to continue supporting the state by contributing their quota to the noble gesture, for the benefit of teeming populace in the state.

While commending the free maternal drugs monitoring committee for its commitment and dedication, the director general charged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the drugs and consumables to maintain a healthy society.

Receiving the items, a staff of Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Hajiya Hussaina Sani, commended the state government for the initiative, saying that the kind gesture would go a long way in uplifting the health standards according to global practice.

Radio Nigeria reports that, KNSG through the state hospitals management board, distributes free drugs and consumables to various medical centers monthly, as part of efforts to curtail maternal mortality and morbidity in the state.
