FG , Traditional Leaders Synergize On At Risk Children Project Success

As part of effort to ensure the success of the At Risk Children Project in Sokoto state, the implementation committee of the project in the state have embarked on an interactive session with district heads in the state aimed at discussing modalities for effective service delivery of the project in the state.

In a welcome address, the leader of the project and Chairman Sokoto state Zakkat and Endorsement Commission, Malam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki, said the expected roles of the eighty five district heads in the state was to identified the target beneficiaries and monitoring the conduct of the project in their respective areas.

Maidoki appealed to the participating traditional leaders for their support and commitment towards assisting the vulnerable and out-of-school children in the country.

He said the At Risk Project, if properly implemented, would reduce youth restiveness, street begging and promote socio economic development.

Also speaking, the Secretary of the project in the state, Professor Yakubu Aliyu Gobir reminded that the At Risk Children Project is a Federal Government initiative aimed at restructuring the Almajiri system of education, educate and train vulnerable children and offers them an enabling playing ground to compete fairly with advantaged children across the country.

He noted that the Project intends to accomplish a policy framework that requires thorough social engineering to provides entrepreneurship skills to out of the school children, and repositioned the Almajiri system of education.
