KNHA Reaffirms Commitment To Passage Of Child Protection Bill – Deputy Speaker

Kano State House of Assembly has reiterated its commitment to the speedy passage of the Child Protection bill.

The Deputy Speaker and Chairman house standing Committee on Women Affairs and Social development, Alhaji Kabiru Hassan Dashi made the indication, while declaring open a public hearing on Child Protection Bill, 2022 held at Kano state house of assembly.

According to him, if passed into law, the bill would go a long way in protecting children against all forms of oppression, and improve their welfare.

The deputy speaker assured participants and all relevant stakeholders, that the house would consider their inputs for inclusion into the bill.

Alhaji Kabiru Hassan Dashi maintained that, the house would critically examine, and ensure that no section of the proposed bill, contradict the tenets and teachings of Islam.

“it is my sincere belief that institutionalizing the legal framework governing child wellbeing and providing child protection law in the State will not only enlist the State ratings in the eyes of International community but also adopts global best practice and safeguard children from risks and all forms of exploitations”

He commended governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for transmitting the bill to the House for deliberations , consideration and subsequent passage into law.

The deputy speaker, described the speaker Kano state house of assembly, Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari as a dedicated legislator who had provided all the necessary support to ensure that the bill becomes a reality.

The public hearing on child protection bill 2022, was marked by paper presentations, and witnessed large turn out of top government functionaries, from the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, council of Ulamas, ROLAC, UNICEF and other relevant stakeholders.
