National Association of Nigerian Students NANS has called for the immediate and unconditional release of a final year student Aminullah Adamu of Federal University Dutse on the orders of First Lady, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari.

The NANS Treasurer Zone A, Comrade Bashir Sulaiman Limanchi stated this at a press conference in Dutse, jigawa state capital.

According to him, Aminullah Adamu of the department of environmental management and toxicology was forcefully whisked away at the university premises by Nigerian police operatives on 8th November 2022.

“We call on the Federal Government, President Muhammadu Buhari, First Lady Aisha Buhari and those involved within the security agencies to shun the temptation of the infringement of the right of this citizen”

“If anybody is found culpable of any level or defamation of character, such a suspect should be charged to the jurisdiction of the court within 24 hours”

Comrade Bashir Sulaiman said the association would embark on a nationwide protest within 24 hours of failure to release the student from the police.

He said, student unions, human rights commission, civil society organizations will hold massive peaceful protest and take over the streets in Nigeria until Aminullah Adamu is released.

Sulaiman Limanchi expressed dismay over the arbitrary manner in which the student was arrested, detained for three weeks, tortured and smuggled out of the state in clear violation of the provisions of Nigeria’s constitution.
