Osun State: Adeleke Promises To Correct Mistakes Of Past Administration

The new Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke has ordered the review of all appointments and major decisions of the immediate past administration taken after the 17th July, 2022.

The Governor also directed the immediate freezing of all bank accounts belonging to the state government.

He gave the directive during his swearing-in ceremony as the sixth democratically elected Governor of Osun State in Osogbo.

Presenting the over 15 minutes acceptance speech, the Governor pledged that the expectations of workers, traders, artisans, farmers, business owners, students, pensioners, traditional, religious leaders and all residents of Osun State would be met.

He also swore to correct all past injustices, corrupt acts and policies by previous administrations against the collective interest of the people.

“No form of illegality will be allowed to stand and all acts of impunity committed by the immediate past administration on local government administration will be reversed following due process.

“My administration will restore the integrity of the civil service which has been bastardised through favouritism and political considerations.

“We will give the civil service a better orientation with a view to restoring its professionalism. In doing this, we will be fair and firm as we act only in pursuance of public interest’’, he pledged.

Governor Adeleke affirmed that his administration would demonstrate high sense of urgency, transparency, justice and innovation to tackle and solve the problems of poverty, illiteracy, disease, and poor infrastructure.

Adeleke said the Peoples Democratic Party led administration would keep to the five points agenda with which he campaigned to the people including better welfare of workers and pensioners; boosting the state’s economy, home-grown infrastructure policy; people-focused policy on education, affordable health care, security and social welfare.

Earlier, Osun state Chief Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo administered the oath of office on the Governor and his deputy before a jubilant crowd at the Osogbo city stadium.

Shortly after the address, the governor witnessed a beautiful parade mounted by officers and men of the Nigeria police and he was driven through a motorcade round the stadium.

The ceremony was attended by political, religious and traditional leaders including former Nigeria Vice President and the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Tambuwal, that of Akwa Ibom State, Emmanuel Udom, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose, Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and Lagos State PDP Governorship Candidate, Jide Adediran Jandor.

Others include the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi and the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi.
