Embrace Community Policing For Safer Society – IGP

Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Usman Baba has implored Nigerian Police to embrace community policing to have a safe society across various regions of the nation.

IGP Alkali Usman Baba stated this during the opening ceremony of a workshop for stakeholders of community policing from Kano, Kaduna, and Katsina Police Commands, held in Kano.

Represented by Assistant Inspector General Zone 1, Kano AIG Ayuba Ede Ekpeji, said the achievements recorded so far by the project must be credited to the efforts put in place by the stakeholders, hence the need for training them to achieve more.

He said community policing was undoubtedly the way to go in the drive to effectively address the complex and challenging dynamics of crime, and mitigate the challenges associated with current emerging internal security.

Community policing is a cost-effective and an all-society approach to the management of fear and security threats, and strengthening the bond between the police institution and the citizens in confronting the common enemies who are the criminal elements within us”

in a remark, Jigawa State Commissioner of Kayode Adetubi who spoke on behalf of commissioners of police said the stakeholders workshop was very timely.

He urged the participants to utilize the opportunity to fine-tune necessary modalities of curbing security challenges.

Earlier, the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists Kano Chapter Comrade Abbas Ibrahim reassured the commitment of the media in providing all the necessary support , geared towards curbing security challenges in the country.
